The football games were on, all my aunts, uncles, cousins, and close family friends are over. My grandma Annette was in the kitchen browning Italian sausage and meatballs, occasionally some braciola. Beef marrow bones and pork neck bones next on the pan. Some onions cooked down, add some garlic, a little red wine to deglaze the pan. Scrape all the good brown bits up and add in your tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and Chicago Johnnys Sunday Gravy Seasoning. At least, that's how I like to remember it. 

Sunday's were always a gathering day for us as a family and my grandma Annette was always cooking Sunday Gravy. Unfortunately she passed away when I was too young to learn from her, so all I have is my modern skill set, the smells of the kitchen in my memory, and what I've gathered from close family. I miss those days, but we can all get together with family and friends and grate some Pecorino Romano over that thick, rich, Sunday Gravy and pasta, with a side of garlic bread.
